Celebrate the Four Winds Centennial

100 Years of Four Winds

Reunion Weekend Date Announcement

August 26–29, 2027

In 2027, Four Winds * Westward Ho will celebrate one hundred years since its first campers stepped foot on Orcas Island. Since Ruth Brown opened camp in 1927, Four Winds has been a community shaped by song, work, beauty, friendship, adventure, and the spirit that so many people carry with them long after summer ends.

Our centennial will be a chance for all to relive amazing camp memories, return to Orcas Island, reminisce with old friends, welcome new generations, and ensure Four Winds will thrive for another century and beyond.

Reunion Weekend at Camp

Four Winds * Westward Ho will host a reunion from August 26–29, 2027 at camp. Alumni, families, former staff, current and former parents, and friends of camp are all welcome to join this celebration.

We hope the weekend feels true to camp itself: grounded, welcoming, full of memory and delight. There will be time to reconnect, time to participate in traditional camp activities, and time for the songs, stories, and simple pleasures that have always been part of a Four Winds summer.

We will update this page as more information becomes available.

Regional Gatherings Before the Reunion

In the lead-up to the centennial, we will also gather in several cities to enable our broader community to celebrate this remarkable milestone even if they can’t make it to Orcas for the in-person event.

  • Seattle, hosted by Maddie Hanson Larson: January 29, 2027 at the Seattle Yacht Club
  • San Francisco, hosted by Molly Gardner Hector: February 5, 2027 at the St. Francis Yacht Club
  • Los Angeles: details to come

These West Coast events will be ticketed, evening gatherings for adults to celebrate and reminisce about the past, with an opportunity to support the next 100 years of Camp. We are also planning two smaller spring gatherings in New York City and Washington, D.C.

We know that getting to Orcas can be a challenge, so we hope these events broaden the circle for more people in our community to participate in this remarkable milestone.

We will share more information about these events in the spring issue of the Pigeon Wing, due out in June.

Looking Toward the Next Century

A centennial is not only a time to look back. It is also a time to carry Four Winds forward with care.

In the spring issue of Pigeon Wing, we will share more about several areas of focus for giving to ensure another amazing 100 years: the Ruth Brown Legacy Club, tuition assistance, camp programming, and facilities.

These priorities reflect the kind of stewardship camp has always required: making sure more campers can belong here, sustaining the experiences that shape a Four Winds summer, and supporting the people and places that make camp life possible.
