The Carlyn Sailing Trip

The 3 Week Carlyn Trip

In the Summer of 2003, Four Winds * Westward Ho revived an old camp tradition — taking a 3-week long sailboat trip to Princess Louisa Inlet, located off the Strait of Georgia in Western Canada.

Every year, a select group of campers from all over the world have an incredible adventure as they learn the necessary skills and knowledge of sailing the sea to reach this incredible destination. It is truly an adventure of a lifetime for all those who participate.

Led by a qualified, licensed captain and staff, sailors spend several days in Camp preparing Camp’s 61’ yawl, Carlyn, getting acquainted with each other, and learning their roles and responsibilities for the duration of the trip. Once they set sail, they’re away from camp for about 3 weeks, visiting many beautiful destinations along the way.

Campers entering grades 9 and 10 are eligible to apply go on the Carlyn trip, and tuition is the same as it is for our regular four-week session. Every year, we flip flop the big trip between the two four-week sessions. In odd numbered years, it is First Session, and in even numbered years, it is Second Session.
