Leadership Training Program
Four Winds * Westward Ho offers a unique Leadership Training Program for youths ages 16-18. This program targets the heart and soul of our mission at camp of fostering a spirit of adventure and delight, cooperation and compassion, creativity and self-confidence within campers that will enrich and inspire them throughout their lives.
This three-year program aims at building future leaders at camp and offers opportunities for service that can aid in the transition from camper to staff. It also builds on skills and increases responsibility as participants develop leadership through providing service to camp, working directly with camper supervision, planning and implementing all camp activities and teaching/assisting in activity areas. Read on to figure out how you wish to contribute.

Helping Hands
(16 and 17 year olds)
One great way to help transition from the role of camper to staff is to get involved in the inner workings of camp. In this role you will work as a Dishwasher, Assistant Lodgekeeper, Barn Hand, Dock Hand, Craft Hand, or Office Assistant. In addition to your work responsibilities you’ll have the opportunity to help with program areas and participate in activities. There will also be supervised time off. You’ll live with other Helping Hands and a Helping Hands Parent (who will have a job of their own like Driver, Lodgkeeper, or Nurse's Assistant) in a tent. You can help out for a session or the whole summer. Participants in this program will receive a small stipend for their work.
To apply for this program, visit our forms page and fill out the specialist application.

Counselors in Training (16 and 17 year olds)
As a Counselor in Training (CT), you will be assisting in all areas of camp, learning valuable leadership skills, and having an incredibly good time!
Each session we select both former campers and new comers to apply for this program. As a CT, you'll live in one of two teepees with your leadership counselor. You'll plan and implement activities in camp, fill in for counselors and staff when needed, participate in special out-of-camp trips and contribute to the camp community as strong leaders and role models for campers and other staff. There will also be supervised time off.
Tuition for the CT program is half of the regular camp tuition.
