Second Session, 2004

Day 1 (Written by Long John):

An early wake up and Caton pulls us off the camp dock with our rowboat, the “Justin Case”. The breeze picks up and we set sail. The kitchen has provided breakfast for us – french toast and sausage. We wonder if we’ll be joined by another camper for the 20-day trip, and I think we all hope not since we’ve all settled in and don’t really want any big changes at this early point in the trip. The fo’csle has become the domain of Claire, Rayna, Shannyn, and Madison. The main cabin is packed full with Aaron, Brad, Caton, Grant, LJ, and Sterling. And of course MB, as the captain, gets a cabin all to herself. We sail around West Sound for a little while and then get the word that there won’t be any additions to the crew, and we head for Customs at Roche Harbor. After we clear Customs, we’re off for Canada. As we cross the boundary between U.S. and Canadian waters, we get a surprise visit by Queen Neptune (MB) and her minions who ”baptize” the “new hands”, and pass out gifts of “Carlyn 2004” trip shirts and journals. We also get “Sharpie-pen” tattoos, some decorative face paint, and a head dunk in a bucket of Canadian water. Much laughter, and we’re off to a good start.
